In Progress

As part of the 21/22 Soho Writers Lab I wrote a full length play called “ Just a F#@k Boy with Feelings” which was submitted to the Tony Craze Award. In Summer of 2022 it had a preview at Tara Theatre facilitated by Associate Artistic Director Natasha Kathi- Chandra.

The story is based of my personal experience during 2016 to 2017 : from the Orlando attacks to the van attack in London Bridge, being homeless and the after effects of that from the LGBTQI+ community I experienced and my personal surroundings. It also looks at a time whilst I was extremely hyper-sexual and figuring out what it means to be Loved, be in Love and deserving of Love. However, as of now I am also looking to add Fantasy, mythology and my disability into the play and experiment with form but also how a physical play of this magnitude will balance all of that and question that?

It’s a story about love, the tender balance of sensuality and sexuality, friendship, acceptance of self and others. The piece started as a one man play, evolved to a greek chorus and now I am working on adding fantasy into it and a female/non-binary lens to add some nuance.

I am currently reworking the script and asking questions such as; The relevancy of the story itself, the form it is being told in, whether the piece needs to continue being a one man play or ensemble or a couple characters, how to script it? Can we ever find piece and joy? The hyper sexuality of Queerness?
